Conventionality Project Andrew, Matthew, Aditya
It can be a hassle trying to find the exact tool you are looking for. There are so many sites; it can be hard to know which one will work the best. We created this website so that a bunch of convenient tools would all be under the same roof. The first iteration of our site includes a calculator, random number generator, currency converter, color picker, and Morse code translator. At the beginning of the project, our team planned on using the Python module Flask to make our site come alive. However, this got slowly replaced with JavaScript. One benefit of using JavaScript over Python was being able to use the library: particles.js. This library is being used in the background of all the pages. It adds so much life to our project, and it would not be the same without it. Overall, we are using a mixture of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python in our project. Some of the tools in our project were more difficult than others. The currency converter and Morse code translator were the most complex tools. However, there were unexpected difficulties with all the other tools (except for the color picker š.) This is the first serious website that both Adi and I (Andrew) have worked on. However, this is the first programming project Matthew has worked on in several years. Despite this minor setback, Matthew pushed through it, and with a little help from the internet, he was able to build the calculator by himself. I think that this is the greatest accomplishment of this project. This project has so many opportunities. The existing tools could gain new features over time, and we could also add brand new tools. Throughout this project, our team learned even more about HTML and CSS, but we also learned more about each other. Some of our most treasured memories will be from this hackathon, and Iām really excited to see what we will do in the future together.
