Inspiration

We are currently seeing the effects that global warming is having on our planet. That's why we decided to work on something that will have an impact on our community. We got inspired by CoolDavis Checklist, we wanted to make an app that will help people build sustainable habits.

What it does

Users are able to track and check the habits that they have done. They are able to see how many greenhouses they saved by doing this habit.

How we built it

We decided to use React, CSS, and HTML for our front end. Our Back end was running on Firebase. However, due to time constraints, we were not able to fully implement It.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges that we ran into were data destructuring and state management. This was tedious because our dataset was nested.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are so proud that our UI came up really well and that we were able to come up with this idea.

What we learned

He have learn how to destructure data and use React hook and Redux for state management.

What's next for CoolDavis

Here at HackDavis, our team decided to take forth upon a task which will contriubte to the social good of our community. Hence, we interacted with the organization "Cool Davis", and wanted to help make a project that meets their needs. When we went up to their stands, we discovered that they have a need for a way for people, the community, to keep track of their "cool home" goals, meaning that they have a list of action items that people who own homes can take on in order to improve their eco-efficiency and improve their ifestyle efforts. This checklist has two options for "Todo" and "Done" and the columns align accordingly to these lables. Our plan was to accordingly set the correct labels in order to have users be able to keep track of their eco-friendly efficiency and their goals towards a better and more sustainable future. With our design we simplied the checklist with a todo option, and complete option, but also added a fun gameplay element with a points system that builds up as you complete more action items. Using our tech stack ReactJS, and firebase, we were able to build out a modular and working "proof of concept" with a very sleak and colorful design
