As students in high school nearing the years of college and in the midst of the coronavirus, our team was inspired to develop a tool that may alleviate stress in daily life. Hence, Corequil was created. Corequil comes from the latin words, Cor, which means heart, and tranquil, which means peace.

What it does

Corequil first allows a user to input their resting heart rate. Then, the app asks the user to choose what audio they wish to play. Afterwards, once the user's apple watch detects unhealthy heart rate levels, Corequil immediately opens an interface, allowing the user to choose whether to play the calming audio or not.

How we built it

Originally, our plan consisted of using Visual Studio's Xamarin program to develop our application, but as time passed and our software issues continued, we were forced to switch to a front-end application centered around the application Figma. We created our interface, recorded some footage with a voiceover from one of our teammates, and compiled it into a video to present today!

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many challenges along our journey. From scheduling conflicts to physical injuries and everything in between during our 12 hours, we were rarely all available to collaborate and cooperate. Additionally, a lack of software preparation led us to be far behind other teams initially, spending multiple hours configuring software and bridging technology gaps between our members. Towards the end, our time constraint led us to rush through our final stages of presentation, but the previous issues were far more pressing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our greatest accomplishment is our presentation, creating solid footage of our user interface design and expanding upon that with the rest of our video. We are also proud of the information we've learned along the way, learning how to begin new projects for our future endeavors!

What we learned

We gained a stronger knowledge of various methods of app development, including using programs such as Visual Studio's Xamarin and MacOS's XCode. We also learned about iOS app development, gaining valuable information about the app development process from start to finish and every step in between.

What's next for Corequil

Corequil has great potential to expand upon its functionality, providing both more automatic input and more variety in song choices. Additionally, a full app development is in store for our project, having plenty of room to grow, to publish, and to be enjoyed by many in the future!
