Inspiration
Party games that promote social interaction by allowing everyone to share one single experience on all their mobile phones.
What it does
Users can interact using a series of mobile phones as if they were one big touchscreen, e.g. for playing games.
How we built it
The graphics rendering on the mobile phones was implemented with libgdx. To be able to connect the devices to the server we chose Node.js.
Challenges we ran into
No previous experience with the used frameworks (libgdx and Node.js). Broadcast via Socket.io proved challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The basic functionality of cross-screen features was successfully implemented. Many improvements are possible...
What we learned
Node.js: implementing a web socket, handling different events libgdx: rendering of geometry, app lifecycle, coordinate system transformations
What's next for CrossScreenStuff
The idea has potential, however other alternative frameworks might function more accurately and reliably.
