Inspiration
Our project crossXconnect is inspired by the vibrant and united LGBTQ+ community, which comes together to support their cause, spread love, and create positive change. Like any other community, the LGBTQ+ community is composed of incredible individuals from all over the world who gather to raise awareness and celebrate their identities. While we witness grand parades and lively carnivals each year, it's essential to recognise that there is still a lack of education and understanding about the LGBTQ+ movement in various parts of the world. Additionally, many talented artists and designers within the community face limited opportunities to showcase their work and earn a living from their talents.
What it does
Our project aims to create a platform that helps address the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community by organising and promoting a diverse range of events specifically tailored to their needs and interests. Through our platform, we bring together a series of engaging and inclusive events, such as concerts, comedy shows, and performances, all designed to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and its vibrant culture. By curating these events, we provide a space where LGBTQ+ individuals and allies can come together, have a good time, and experience the power of unity. These events not only serve as a source of entertainment but also play a crucial role in spreading awareness about the LGBTQ+ movement and its core values, fostering understanding, empathy, and acceptance.
How we built it
We built the main website using html, css, javascript. We made the backend in Node.js and Express and used MongoDB Atlas for database. We deployed using Microsoft Azure.
Challenges we ran into
The time was very limited and it was difficult to come up with ideas related to the theme but our team somehow managed these constraints, prioritized tasks, and made efficient use of the available time to deliver a functional and impactful project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to make this project functional and working to help others realise the importance and need of this issue. Our platform goes beyond simply organizing events; it serves as a catalyst for positive change and education. We collaborate with talented artists and performers from the LGBTQ+ community, giving them a platform to showcase their talents and stories. By amplifying their voices and artistry, we aim to challenge stereotypes, break barriers, and inspire others.
What we learned
The research we did for the making of our project deepened our understanding of the diverse experiences, challenges, and aspirations of the LGBTQ+ community. As talking on the technical side we gained more experience on how to use MongoDB Atlas in a project and of course one of the most important skill i.e. how to work efficiently in a team. We believe that a very large social impact can be made through technology in todays time. Our project exemplifies the potential for technology to drive positive change, empower marginalized communities, and amplify underrepresented voices.
What's next for crossXconnect
Our app is fully capable of spreading awareness. In future we intent to expand and scale the project to reach a much broader audience by partnering with organizations, collaborating with influencers, or leveraging social media campaigns. We will be emphasizing on the improvement of the platform by gathering feedback from users, stakeholders, community members to enhance the features, functionality, and user experience of the platform. We will also ensure that the project remains relevant and impactful by using the user feedback.
