Inspiration
In times of crisis, access to high-quality, unbiased information is essential for both impacted victims and external observers with capabilities to influence governments. Current events in the Ukraine-Russia conflict demostrate this to the fullest degree: Ukrainian citizens lack information that is vital for them to assess their personal safety and citizens of other countries (e.g. both Russian and western citizens) are unable to see past the wall of the often biased local media that distorts the reality on the ground.
What it does
An interactive map enabling the access of videos taken worldwide and verified by AI. A reward-staking system incentivizes ordinary people to contribute their valuable viewpoints through a decentralized blockchain system.
How we built it
- Client: We used React.JS styled with TailwindCSS. The embedded map was provided by MapBoxAPI.
- AI: We used modern deep learning models (e.g. CenterNet) for object detection and scene recognition
- Blockchain: Web3 platforms Web scraping for fetching the data
Challenges we ran into
It was really hard to scrap the web and create the map. But the most challenging part was to create the blockchain part.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have mixed so many different technologies, and have built a cohesive app that functionally integrates these different parts in a useful way.
What we learned
AI + full stack + web scrapping + blockchain
Built With
- javascript
- mapbox
- python
