Inspiration

It started with a simple question — why is getting medicine still so hard in Sudan?

Long waits.
Limited access.
Confusion about availability.
For many, especially in remote areas, getting the right medication at the right time felt impossible.

We saw the problem. So we built the solution.

What it does

Dawak is a mobile app that connects users with nearby pharmacies.
It makes medicine access simple and fast by offering:

  • Search and order for medications
  • AI assistant for guidance and health questions
  • Delivery and pickup options
  • Pharmacy dashboard to manage orders
  • Admin dashboard to manage users, pharmacies, and requests

How we built it

We built Dawak using Flutter for cross-platform mobile development.

We designed the Ul with Figma to ensure a clear, user-friendly interface.

We used Firebase for database management and authentication.

We integrated the OpenAl API to power the chatbot and provide Al-based medical guidance.

The system flow was optimized for speed, reliability, and ease of use

Challenges we ran into

  • Understanding real pharmacy workflows
  • Designing a system that works in areas with weak internet
  • Prioritizing features with limited time
  • Making the AI assistant context-aware for health-related use

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We built a fully functional prototype
  • Created a seamless flow from search to delivery
  • Simplified health support for users with no clear starting point
  • Designed with real-world use cases from Sudan in mind

What we learned

  • Solving a real problem creates real motivation
  • Simplicity wins — the easier the app, the more likely it is to be used
  • Designing for local needs means asking real people real questions
  • AI can be useful even in low-resource settings if implemented right

What's next for Dawak

  • Launching a pilot with select pharmacies in Khartoum and Madani
  • Training the AI assistant on Sudanese Arabic and local medications
  • Adding payment features and order tracking
  • Scaling to include more pharmacies and underserved areas

Because access to medicine shouldn’t be a struggle.
