Inspiration
In Ramadan, we have the blessing to be able to see numerous of our beloved Brothers and Sisters. But after this blessed month passes, there is a feeling disconnect that starts to ooze. Deen Circle is an app where we wish to ignite this feeling of Brotherhood even after Ramadan by letting Muslims know what events are going on in their local area and stay in the loop on what their friends and communities around them are doing.
What it does
There is many things that are app does that brings great benefit to Muslims and Muslim Organizations. Muslims benefit from this app by being able to easily find events and communities in their area, as well as be able to see what events their friends are planning to go to due to our story feature. When people recognize one of their friends is going to an event, it incentives them to go to the event as well.
This is not only beneficial for the muslims to strengthen our bond with one another, but it's beneficial to the Muslim Community at large! Muslim Organizations can get a higher outreach, better statistics on how many people are attending, and can even have an easy way to advertise from a fundraiser/donation drive
How we built it
The main tools we used to build this was loveable, react, node.js, tailwind, and github. These tools allowed for us to make a web app, collaborate, and deploy in a streamlined way.
Some secondary tools we used were chatGPT, traeAI, vscode, and cursor
Challenges we ran into
1) Generative AI for Event Images One feature we wished to add was an option to use Generative AI to generate an image while creating an event. After numerous hours trying to implement, we sadly could not implement it due to time constraints.
2) Implementing a streamlined Database Due to our time constraints we figured that it would be more important to get the core features of our app out of the way before we can start working on a streamlined database to store users, user preferences, events, communities, etc. However, due to the scope of our project we didn't have time to implement a proper Database. This gave us a big challenge because there were features that we wished to implement with a usable database such as having a friends feature, data persistence, and transition between pages/components.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating very user friend user interface and including many features that are in line with our mission. One of these features is the prayer time feature that uses your location to show you the prayers times, the calendar feature for easy display of your events, the story feature to easily see what events your friends are going to, and the community and events tab for an easy way for muslims to connect with their local community.
What we learned
We learned how to use multiple tools for efficiency, easy collaboration and streamlined deployment such as Loveable and Git.
What's next for Deen Circle
Features that we would like to add is a streamlined Database to support users, friends, user preferences, events, etc. This would be integral for the future of Deen Circle
