Elevator Pitch

Depth allows you to search any topic and get an AI-generated course on demand after a quick conversational flow to understand your intent.

Inspiration

The inspiration for Depth came from our shared frustration with the current state of learning and research. We wanted to explore how AI could be leveraged to create personalized, conversational, and responsive learning experiences.

What it does

Depth allows users to:

• Search any topic and get AI-generated course modules on that topic
• Have a conversational flow with an AI assistant to uncover their intent before receiving the course
• See key insights overlaid on course content to reinforce learning
• Switch between different learning modalities like text, and (coming soon) video + audio
• Take quizzes throughout the course to test comprehension

How we built it

We built a Next full stack web app with Typerscript. The content generation engine is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. The UI was designed in Figma.

Challenges we ran into

• Creating natural conversations with Claude
• Balancing depth and brevity in AI-generated content
  
• Integrating different pieces like conversational UI, Claude, GPT-3, and learning modalities

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Created a V1 prototype validating our core ideas within 24 hours
• Built a responsive conversational interface
• Demonstrated the potential for AI to transform learning

• UI design considerations for learning experiences
• Scope of taking an idea to devpost submission in 24 hrs

What's next for Depth

• Expanding to more topics and domains
• Adding personalization based on user knowledge
• Integrating spaced repetition and retention tracking
