Inspiration

The inspiration for our project came from the stream deck, an expensive piece of equipment streamers use to control tools and execute shortcuts on their computers. It essentially serves as an additional keyboard that can be programmed for macros or other actions. We thought about a way we could create something similar using an app on our phone and our computer, without the expensive price tag.

What it does

Dequeue allows the user to download the app onto their computer and set up shortcuts on the computer that will be executed when you tap the appropriate button on the phone.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we ran into was the communication between the phone and the computer and the best way to allow the devices to communicate. An additional challenge we had was getting the desktop app to record the keys the way we wanted, allowing it to record the modifiers in addition to the characters.

Accomplishments we are proud of

Being able to create the two apps and get everything working as desired.
