Inspiration We noticed a huge gap in access to music education, especially for students from underserved communities. Srihan's club, Symphonic Pioneers, was already doing great work locally, and we wanted to help scale that impact with tech.

What it does digiSP connects students with music mentors and gives them the tools to grow. They can record themselves playing, get feedback directly on their sheet music, and track their progress over time.

How we built it We used React and TailwindCSS for the frontend, and Firebase for storing user and project data. Video recording, sheet music display, annotation, a metronome, and a tuner were all built into the browser using web APIs.

Challenges we ran into Syncing the video recording with the metronome and sheet music was harder than we expected. Making sure everything showed up in the right dashboards and worked across user types took a lot of debugging. Lastly, making sure student availability keywords corresponded to mentor keywords.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We built a real working platform that could actually help students learn music online. The feedback loop with annotated sheet music and video feedback feels really interactive and personal. And finally Srihan plans to incorporate into his club as he expands nationally.

What we learned We learned that there are a lot of possibilities with online education especially in music. We learned how important it is to design with the end users in mind, for us this is young students so we catered towards a simpler user friendly design.

What's next for DigiSP We want to add better scheduling, and AI feedback on recordings as the student plays a piece. The next step is testing it with real students, finding mentors, and expanding to more campuses.
