Digital PA System

Inspiration

Our project drew inspiration from widely-used platforms like Google Calendar, Google Meet, and similar applications known for their efficiency and user-friendly design. These platforms demonstrated how digital tools can streamline communication, scheduling, and collaboration. We aimed to incorporate the intuitive functionality and seamless integration seen in these tools while tailoring our system to meet the unique needs of our users. The success and popularity of these platforms motivated us to explore innovative ways to simplify administrative tasks and enhance productivity through our own design.

What it does

It is a web-based Public Address (PA) system for administrators to effectively arrange and schedule meetings and automate tasks such as sending follow-up tasks to themselves or others, sending reminders, generating summaries of email threads, an arranging meetings.

How we built it

We developed our prototype by drawing inspiration from similar platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Google Calendar. Additionally, we built our foundational knowledge by leveraging resources like YouTube tutorials and the official documentation of various programming languages.

Challenges we ran into

As a team of students new to computing, we faced challenges in determining where to begin, implementing specific functions, and designing our website effectively. Consequently, our final prototype remains incomplete and lacks several features we initially envisioned but were unable to include due to our limited experience and technical skills.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have developed a semi-functional prototype despite our limited experience in web development and technical skills. Along the way, we gained foundational knowledge in CSS, JavaScript, and HTML, which has been a significant step forward in our learning journey.

We gained basic CSS, HTML and Javascript skills and insights into the web development process.

What's next for Digital PA System

We aim to expand this project by enhancing the user interface design, making it more vibrant, engaging, and user-friendly. Our goal is to transition from a prototype to a fully functional system while introducing new features to elevate the user experience. Key improvements include adding a profile feature to record user history and contacts, as well as implementing smart suggestions based on frequently or recently contacted individuals to boost efficiency and streamline communication.
