Inspiration
University students often skip out on meals or pursue food only when it's free. For these students, dinner has become an unavoidable expenditure instead of an enjoyable tasty experience. With Dinner Share, students can conveniently experience the joys of a warmly cooked meals with interesting company.
What it does
Dinner Share connects students to hosts who are willing to make a home-cooked meal. In addition, given the commitment of preparing meals, Dinner Share has a catering option for hosts who have extra food, ensuring that hosts do not lose money whatsoever.
How we built it
Dinner Share was built with Swift and Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
We faced time constraints. None of us were familiar with Firebase, and as a result, the steep learning curve caused some delay. Moreover, some Github merge conflicts prevented operation, since we had to wait to ensure all of us are on the same page. Lastly, one of our teammates had to leave early on the first day due to sickness, which further hindered the completion of the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The iOS application has a good user interface and is extremely convenient to use. We are proud of creating an application which would actually use as college students.
What we learned
We became more familiar with server-side Swift and Firebase.
What's next for Dinner Share
Dinner Share is ready to launch as soon as scalability issues are addressed.
