Inspiration
We want to use the latest technology (Natural Language Toolkit) to build something stupid and annoying.
What it does
Our Discord bot is a friend who is very knowledgeable and does not like swearing. It can act like a professor who can paraphrase your messages in a very simply complicated way. It can also be a grammar and spelling police who judges and corrects your sentences. It can also ask trivial questions to widen your knowledge for nothing.
How we built it
We use Python with the discord.py package and host it on Replit.com. The bot is kept alive by UptimeRobot.com.
Additionally, we use nltk package with wordnet data, purgomalum API, opentdb API, and lang-check-tool Python package.
Challenges we ran into
We spent a lot of time conceptualizing our product to make it as useless and annoying as possible.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- The bot is kinda useless and annoying.
- Participating in a Hackathon and collaborating on building a bot in a short period is something we have never done before.
What we learned
The importance of product validation, requirement gathering, and food ordering.
What's next for DisneyLang
We aim to make the bot more stable and faster and add some language features in the future.
