Inspiration

The struggle of 911 responders not always being able to provide enough help due to an unfamiliar situation.

What it does

Message or speak with a chatbot that provides evidence-based advice for the dispatcher to give the user.

How we built it

Specific prompt-engineering to encourage gpt-4o to act like a first responder and provide advice to give to the dispatcher. This is all integrated in a React JS built website for the dispatcher to use. We implemented audio processing and google's TTS API to give our chatbot a voice!

9-1-1 Assistant's Impact

Staffing Shortages: 36% of dispatch centers experienced a decrease in staff since 2019 High Stress: 75% of dispatchers cited high stress as the main factor driving people away from the profession. Burnout symptoms, including anxiety, fatigue, and low energy, were observed by 83% of respondents. Lack of Training: Many dispatch centers struggle with providing adequate training and resources to their staff.

Our AI chatbot can help mitigate the effects of staffing shortages, and make the job easier for dispatchers who dont need to go through as much stress with AI helping.
