Inspiration

How often has it happened that you missed a day of class due to an excused absence, were not able to hear something that the professor said, simply did not come to class in the best headspace, or you are a student with impairments and circumstances that keep you from taking notes as effectively as others? In all of these situations, Doplhi has you covered as the place to share notes and collaborate on them with your fellow classmates.

What it does

Dolphi aims to be the Wikipedia of your college campus. Here students can come together, discuss, learn, and grow together in their knowledge.

How we built it

It is built with a Next.js frontend that communicates with a Django backend and database that is hosted on Google Cloud.

Challenges we ran into

It became apparent how difficult it is to write an interactive and collaborative text editor, that is fast, looks good, and feels satisfying to use. There are many parts of this that we were not yet able to overcome.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was the first Hackathon or first in-person Hackathon for many of us and we are all proud of how well we were able to learn from and with our teammates.

What we learned

We learned how to write a frontend with Next.js, how to host an API and database using Django, and most importantly how to have fun working as a team.
