Inspiration
I was inspired by a pomodoro web app that I frequently used and wanted to dive deeper into understanding how it worked. The desire for a more minimalistic UI that allows users of the Pomodoro technique to focus on their tasks without distraction led to the creation of Dorotime. Additionally, the idea of incorporating relaxing ambient music as an option added an extra layer to the user experience.
What it does
Dorotime is a Pomodoro timer web app that follows the Pomodoro technique, a time management method that uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. The app provides a clean and distraction-free interface for users to stay focused during their work sessions.
How we built it
The project was built using Node.js and React. CSS played a crucial role in bringing the Figma design to life, creating the minimalistic and aesthetically pleasing user interface. The combination of front-end technologies allowed for an interactive and responsive Pomodoro timer.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was the limited time, as the team was relatively new to hackathons and React web app development. Overcoming the learning curve for both Node.js and React within the given timeframe presented its own set of challenges. Additionally, ensuring that the CSS styles aligned with the design mockups required meticulous attention to detail.challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have successfully translated a Figma design into a functional web app. The clean and minimalistic UI achieved through CSS reflects the original vision for Dorotime. Overcoming the challenges of time constraints and learning new technologies during the hackathon was a significant accomplishment.
What we learned
Throughout the development of Dorotime, the team gained valuable insights into the capabilities of CSS, React, and Node.js. Understanding how to leverage these technologies to create an efficient and user-friendly web app was a key learning experience. The project also provided hands-on experience in the iterative design and development process.
What's next for Dorotime
In the future, Dorotime could be expanded with additional features to enhance the user experience. This may include customizable timer intervals, user accounts for tracking productivity statistics, and integration with other productivity tools. The goal is to continue refining Dorotime based on user feedback and evolving productivity needs.
