Inspiration

We are in a world that has become fast, cut-throat, hard, competitive and we have people having opinions on everything. But in all this music is the one thing that gives me some headspace that makes me wanna wake up in the morning and get going. This being the pride month every one no matter the gender can appreciate this. Why in pride hacks I decided to do this project ? Well pride month is should be seen as a way to see the LGBTQ+ community same as anyone else and not just a means to say that they are different so music is one of the thing that unites us so lets cherish it.

What it does

We have made a simple UI that helps create simple drum beats and save them for later use. We used pygames in python for out simple app for drum beats.

How we built it

We first decided how to proceed.

1. we created the basic grids and design.
2. we added the functionality to add and remove a beat and change the bpm.
3. we added sounds.
4. we added save and loading a saved files functionality.
5. we are done.

Challenges we ran into

We faced issues in figuring out how to implement the loading and saving functions but we figured it out by storing the petameters of a beat sequence in a text file and loading it from there.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Proud of how the whole thing fell into place.

What we learned

Learned about Pygames and python mainly and the vast areas it is and can be used.

What's next for Dr. Beatz

In the future we have a few things in mind:

1. The saved files to be in audio of a project-file format(.wav, .mp3, etc.).
2. A better UI and a better saving and loading menu.
3. Adding more audio options.
4. Adding instruments and more functions to produce high quality audio.
