Inspiration:

We found that the healthcare system is very complicated and wanted to simplify the experience for people with little access to information, and help alleviate stress about their health and the people around them.

What it does:

It provides information about COVID-19 cases in their state, and is structured in a way that we intended to be able to host an API for identifying healthcare providers in the area.

How we built it:

We built it with Next.js and Tailwind CSS, as well as disease.sh API so it was a website that we built both front and back end development for.

Challenges we ran into:

We ran into several coding issues since we all had little to no experience in web development, particularly backend. Because of this, we had to dedicate a substantial amount of time researching errors and trying to find out how to achieve our vision of the website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We are very proud of the webpage because we had so little experience with web design, so it was a huge accomplishment to not only have a visually appealing website, but one with back-end capabilities through an API.

What we learned:

We learned lots of new coding languages and learned how to integrate API

What's next for Dr. Discover:

We hope to add the NPPES API to give more utility to the site and help users find healthcare providers that are the best choice for them with their Medicare or Medicaid program.
