Inspiration

We were inspired by people's unhealthy drinking habits and Reddit's Recap. We decide to make a cup that can detect what people have been drinking for how much and provides insight into their drinking analytics throughout the day. Moreover, it helps fitness freaks like me to monitor their consumption of sugary drinks and soda and check how much more milk or water I need to drink per day.

What it does

Detects the user's drink when it is poured into a cup. Gives the report of the drinks consumed as a timeline and using plenty of sensors accurately determines the type of drink poured into the cup. Also, we get a graph of the coffee and alcohol against various parameters to determine how our addiction to that particular liquid is going.

How we built it

Firstly we use Ionic React to build the interface of the application, which will display the report based on the interface of Reddit recap. Then, we used Python for the data visualization portion like the graphs and charts. We used API and Arduino for the simulation since most of our sensors and hardware components unfortunately did not function properly.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into the challenge of configuring the hardware, which caused a major breakthrough in our project since we spent 200 CAD on our hardware components it really stressed us out, but thankfully we used that problem to be more creative and not prevent us from creating our dream project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of completing the project that we initially set out to make, despite the massive hardware limitations.We are glad we used the problem we encountered in the middle of the project not to deter us from the finishing it but finding an alternate method to finish it.

What we learned

We learned to work together as a team and problem solve, and blend front-end and back-end seamlessly.Moreover, we realised computer science has numerous alternate routes to a solution which is the beauty of this subject, since we used a emulator for the sensors instead of all togethor quiting the project just before the submission.Furthermore, we enhanced our backend understanding since we needed to link it with both hardware and front end.

What's next for Drink Service

The next steps are to configure the hardware correctly and to make the service work correctly.Also make the application even more accurate and precise so that it can determine the difference between apple juice and mix apple berry juice.Furthermore, we want to determine the impurities in the liquid to a certain level so that this application can be used in poor countries for people to recognise if the water is safe enough to drink.
