One page flat design games

What it does

Annoy people by not letting you catch the duck while annoying music and annoying SFX play in the background - the duck makes fun of you too!

How we built it

Using vanilla JS, HTML and CSS

Challenges we ran into

Animating the cursor to firstly be a custom gif of a farmer walking and secondly making the farmer face the duck was quite the challenge. Also, this was our (more or less) first time working with such a stack and dealing with HTML canvases was not very fun as it has its own set of rules

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A finished product - in such a tight timeframe we did not expect to have such a polished final product, especially because not all of us were able to work on the project throughout the duration of the competition Also, we are really proud of the way the cursor turned out, as well as the overall aesthetic of the game and the animations built in :D

What we learned

We learned quite a lot about CSS and working (painfully) with HTML canvases, as well as how webpages are layered(getting things to stack properly was not very fun, bless z-index). Moreover, we learned how to use custom fonts, cursors and animations in webpages.

What's next for Duck U

We wish to implement different levels of difficulty, such as a harder game mode seeing the duck move faster, use the grass/text to hide from the farmer(thus having to use the farmer’s direction to determine the duck’s location) etc. Otherwise, we believe that in such a one page game, simplicity is key and we shouldn’t aim to add much more to it. Another thing that could be worked on is also the mechanic that the duck used to move around as it is currently pseudo-random.
