Inspiration

Many people in my teammate's and I's community experience Dyslexia and other learning disabilities. We believe that this project would aid in creating user friendly, easy to read text for anyone and everyone—whether it be from your history text book, biology worksheet, or in-class novel.

What it does

On the site, you can paste in any copied text and use our UI to format it to your preference. It has great functionality and is simple enough for anyone to utilize!

How we built it

The project was made using hypertext markup language, CSS, and JavaScript, all in one file! It took us eight hours as we are inexperienced with anything that isn't Python or C#...

Challenges we ran into

Our line numbers text formatting option was especially difficult to make, as well as out highlight text toggle, but we believe it paid off in the end as now our site has practicality and extra, more impressive functionality!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are especially proud of our highlight text toggle and our contrast options! <3

What we learned

Before the competition, we hadn't known any JavaScript, and merely basic html and CSS. We've learnt a lot from the development of Dyslex Friendly, and look forward to future projects at Hack The Ridge!

What's next for Dyslex Friendly

One of us plan on furthering Dyslex Friendly's functionality in the upcoming weeks by adding the ability to:

  • download files rather than paste text
  • add options for the user to change TTS variables
  • use the Gemini API to summarize and markdown large amounts of text
