Inspiration
EasyEnglish is a website that helps its users learn english in a fun and interactive way. Our vision is to create a fully functional app that helps deaf people (and non native speakers) learn to speak and pronounce english properly with interactive speech recognition and an algorithm designed to compare phonetics of a phrase given and a phrase spoken.
What it does
For the first half of development, we implemented the speech recognition system using Python and Flutter to develop an app, but we soon had to switch gears onto Javascript as the time we had would not have been enough to build the functional app. As of right now, our code consists of the original Python code, the JavaScript and html files that are functioning.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenges were implementing speech recognition in JavaScript, and learning how to develop a website from scratch in under 30 hours, as our initial plan of making an app didn’t work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to accustom the challenges that we faced on our individual roles, from changing the whole project to changing
What we learned
We all learned better team work habits, patience, and a lot of technical skills
What's next for EasyEnglish
Hopefully develop it even further to function fully without bugs and hopefully expand it to an actual app as that was our initial goal
