Inspiration
As a student, I saw my close friend trying to stay healthy but struggling to follow diet plans. She wanted glowing skin and more energy, but found most apps confusing or boring. This inspired me to create Eat Wise — a simple and friendly app that helps students stick to their health goals.
What it does
Eat Wise is a beginner-friendly wellness app. It allows users to: Sign up and save their health profile Select personal health goals like Glowing Skin, Weight Loss, or Muscle Gain View food and diet suggestions based on their chosen goal Get daily reminders for drinking water and eating meals Ask health-related questions using a chatbot Track their basic profile details anytime The app helps students stay motivated and develop better wellness habits with simple steps.
How we built it
I built Eat Wise using: MIT App Inventor (no-code platform) CloudDB for storing user data (name, age, gender, goal) ListPicker, TextBoxes, and Buttons for user inputs Clock and Notifier components to send water/meal reminders A custom chatbot screen with logic to answer only health or app-related questions UI screens like Splash, Sign-up, Login, Home, Goal Tips, Chatbot, and Profile Each screen is connected using simple block codes. I kept the design clean and beginner-friendly for students.
Challenges we ran into
Learning how CloudDB works for multi-user data storage Building a working login and sign-up system Making chatbot answers goal-specific and relevant Keeping the UI simple but functional Doing everything as a complete beginner with no previous app-building experience
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a working wellness app as a solo student using no-code tools Made the full app interface, logic, chatbot, and reminders myself Helped others understand how a simple app can make a big difference in self-care Created something useful and supportive for my student community
What we learned
How to use MIT App Inventor How to connect and use CloudDB How to plan and build a complete app workflow Importance of clean design and user-friendly experience How to add chatbot logic and reminders
What's next for EAT WISE
