Inspiration
Sometimes, we notice that we know more people who live far away than those who live near us. We also don't tend to interact with people around us anymore as so much interaction nowadays happens online.
What it does
This social media app allows you to connect with people only near your immediate area, forcing community and interaction with people around you.
How we built it
We first built frontend and backend separately and then joined them together.
Challenges we ran into
- Our authentication method was not working at one point
- User data was not being generated properly leading to error after error
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Our coordinate location system was designed manually
What we learned
- We learned that there can be many challenges when using a bunch of third-party APIs and services and joining them together.
What's next for Echo
We want to add a Community tab that allows you to connect with people in your local community directly, plan local events, and more.
