Echo-Guardian

Inspiration

Living in *Monterrey, Mexico *, we've experienced firsthand the challenges posed by poor air quality. The city's rapid growth and industrial activity have led to increased pollution levels, impacting the health and well-being of its residents. This reality inspired us, a group of passionate individuals, to create Echo Guardian.

What it does

Echo Guardian is a React application employing Solace Pub/Sub architecture to deliver real-time air quality data from mock sensors. Seamlessly visualizing this data through dynamic graphs, users stay informed about their environment's health at a glance.

But Echo Guardian isn't just about passive monitoring. With our companion Swift app, users become active participants in safeguarding air quality. By reporting real-time pollution hotspots, users contribute to a communal effort to create a cleaner environment.

Throughout the development of Echo Guardian, we encountered several challenges. Integrating real-time data from mock air quality sensors posed technical hurdles, requiring us to fine-tune our data processing.

Despite the challenges, we're proud to have developed Echo Guardian, a comprehensive solution for monitoring and addressing air quality issues. Our platform provides real-time data visualization, empowering users to make informed decisions about their environment. Additionally, we're proud of fostering community engagement through the integration of user-reported pollution hotspots, creating a collaborative approach to tackling air pollution in Monterrey.

What we learned

Building Echo Guardian taught us invaluable lessons about the intersection of technology, environmental science, and community activism. We learned the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex issues like air quality. Additionally, we gained insights into the technical aspects of real-time data processing, user interface design, and community-driven platforms.

What's next for Echo-Guardian

Looking ahead, we envision several exciting possibilities for Echo Guardian. We plan to enhance the platform's capabilities by incorporating machine learning algorithms to predict air quality trends and identify potential pollution sources.
