We created our program for the Smart City Visions theme. We wanted to find an efficient incentive for citizens in Montréal to be more sustainable. Since there are already many systems in place for sustainability, which are backed up by solid infrastructure systems, our program relies on these to further encourage individual sustainability efforts. Providing tax-payers with the opportunity to reduce their taxes through waste reduction is an idea that can be expanded and replicated in many different settings to fulfill different city needs.
