Inspiration
In modern society consumers usually shop without regard to a product's carbon footprint.
What it does
EcoBear solves the problem by trying to change consumers' behaviors through providing instant sustainability insights directly on shopping websites, rewarding eco-friendly choices, and nudging users away from harmful purchases-all in an engaging, gamified experience featuring a lovable polar bear.
How we built it
User Research: Conducted contextual inquiries and usability testing to understand how people make shopping decisions. Wireframing & Prototyping: Designed high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, focusing on a seamless, intuitive UI. Visual & Interaction Design: Created a playful brand identity featuring a lovable polar bear, engaging animations, and color-coded sustainability indicators. Gamification System: Developed a reward system with badges, leaderboards, and incentives to drive behavior change. Iterative Design Process: Conducted user testing and refined interactions based on feedback.
Challenges we ran into
Ensuring that EcoBear’s pop-ups and nudges were helpful, not intrusive. Also, different products and brands have varying sustainability claims, so we had to design adaptable UI components.
