✨ Inspiration ✨

We understand that climate change is a crucial issue today. People worldwide contribute to this problem daily, from using electricity to buying disposable items. We believe if everyone does their part by adopting sustainable habits, we can be one step closer to solving climate change. Therefore, we created Ecofier to help people develop sustainable habits by making their rooms more eco-friendly.

🤖 What It Does 🤖

Ecofier is an app where users can take a picture of their room, and the app will suggest ideas to make it more environmentally friendly or sustainable. The app will also provide a score based on how sustainable the room is.

🏗 How We Built It 🏗

We used Dart and Flutter to build a simple yet powerful frontend with multiplatform support. We also wrote a backend in NodeJS and express.js for quick and efficient deployment.

🧩 Challenges We Ran Into 🧩

Initially, we tried to create our own AI model for the room scanning feature. Unfortunately, while coding the AI model, our team member's computer crashed due to a bug in the code. After fixing her device, we decided to use other methods of code to complete the room analyzer while preventing any more severe issues from occurring.

We are proud of our accomplishments in creating a secure backup of the data saved on the team member's device.

📖 What We Learned 📖

Through this hackathon, we learned many important aspects of programming, such as managing AI, backend and frontend cohesion, multiplatform development, and teamwork. We also gained valuable insight into the design process, such as the importance of testing, debugging, and iteration. Additionally, we gained a better understanding of coding best practices, such as the use of naming conventions and the use of design patterns.

👀 What's Next? 👀

In the future of Ecofier, we plan to add a login feature to enable users to create accounts to store and access their photos across all their devices. We also hope to implement a true AI feature to the application.
