Inspiration
Event planning is a hassle, and for college clubs everywhere, it seems to be a growing issue. With the ever-increasing need for clubs and the number of students in the freshman class, our current event systems we have in place will eventually begin to fail us. As a solution, we propose a new app called Event Runner, a new and intuitive way to schedule and plan events.
What It Does
Event runner seeks to streamline your event planning for any type of college club. We’ve all had that experience of trying to plan an event, including the lovely event organizers at the UW Bothell Hackathon, so in order to streamline the process of planning events in the future we used an event planner and attendee interface as well as options to ask for budget approvals,
How It Works
Using a simple web stack to send and receive information as well as save the information relating to any event planning.
Challenges we ran into
The most challenging part of this event was learning how to react, how to use MongoDB, Next.js and teaching it to multiple different people at the same time. We also ran into some library issues but nothing a little Red Bull flavored duct tape couldn’t solve.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
Working together to learn a new coding language was pretty difficult however immensely rewarding.
What we learned
- MongoDB
- React
- Repo request
- Get request
What’s Next For Event Runners?
We really hope that event runned really take off running (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) and eventually become a mainstay planning app that’s around for years and years to come. We hope that schools will be more incentivized with a larger attendance for their events.
Built With
- docker
- mongodb
- nextjs
- tailwind
