Inspiration

India has agriculture as the backbone of the country, it is the livelihood for most of the people. It is a major sector that contributes to our country’s economy. So, the aim behind developing the portal is to provide a platform for farmers and consumers for buying and selling agri-food products. This portal is intended to give agricultural communities a consistent price for their produce.

What it does

The primary reason why farmers are not able to get enough price for their product is involvement of middlemen. The intermediary person gets a big share of the product cost without any effort. The system has a facility of multilingual support.

How we built it

We have used following Technologies: •Framework: Django •Web Technology: HTML, CSS, JavaScript •Programming Language: Python •Backend: Firebase Database

Challenges we ran into

It was a bit challenging to integrate firebase with django framework at start. Also we faced some issues in email integration but at last we were able to solve them successfully.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to successfully integrate firebase and email in the django project and able to provide a common digital platform to farmers and consumer for buying and selling of agricultural products.

What we learned

The most important thing we learned in this project was team work , it was a great learning experience of team coordination to build a project in limited time period.

What's next for EKisan

Due to time constraints the features we added were limited, in future some other features can be added like weather prediction, plant disease detection, etc.
