Inspiration
We were inspired by the challenge mentors face in training interns with diverse skill sets. With limited time and varying levels of expertise, providing personalized guidance to each individual can be overwhelming. Our project aims to bridge this gap by offering tailored courses based on an initial skill assessment, saving mentors time while ensuring interns and employees receive the focused support they need to grow.
What it does
QuikBoard is an intelligent, personalized learning platform designed to help users identify and improve their weakest skill areas quickly and effectively. By taking a short quiz, users can assess their knowledge in various subjects, and QuikBoard analyzes the results to generate a customized learning path tailored to each user’s needs.
With QuikBoard, users save time by focusing on areas that need the most improvement, and they’re empowered with high-quality, relevant resources to advance their learning goals. This streamlined approach helps users upskill quickly and efficiently, making it a valuable tool for both students and professionals seeking to stay competitive.
How we built it
For our frontend, we used JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. For our backend, we mainly used Python. We also used many AWS technologies including Amplify, Bedrock, and Lambda.
Challenges we ran into
Connecting our frontend to our backend. Also most of our work had to be finished sequentially. Therefore, it was hard to work on tasks at the same time because they depended on each other.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As developers, no one on our team had experience with AI. Therefore, we are extremely proud of creating a project using AI tools for the first time. Also, despite all of the challenges we faced along the way, we stayed committed and gained valuable learning experiences through the process.
What we learned
Our main takeaway from this hackathon was learning how to use and connect many AWS technologies including. We also learned DynamoDB and Cloud Watch even though we ended up not including them in our project. We also learned how to work as a team to problem solve and efficiently finish the project.
What's next for QuikBoard
- Work on improving the UI/ UX (especially with the personalized course)
- Include more parameters to personalize each course even more
- Make the quiz dynamic -- companies can make there own initial quiz on technologies that they want their employees to know
