Transportation accounts for 28% of greenhouse gas emissions, making it a significant contributor to climate change. Research shows that electric cars substantially reduce greenhouse gases, making them a key component in achieving a healthier environment. Inspired by the global shift, our application addresses this problem by promoting and assisting the adoption of electric vehicles.
What it does
A user-friendly application designed to assist individuals in finding an electric car that aligns with their budget, preferences, and sustainability goals. With the world moving towards electric vehicles, ElectriChoice aims to simplify the process of transitioning from a gas-powered car to an electric car.
How we built it
The development process of ElectriChoice began with thorough research to understand the problem of transitioning from gas-powered cars to electric vehicles. This was followed by UI design to create a user-friendly interface that caters to individuals' budget, preferences, and sustainability goals. To ensure an simple but engaging experience for users, the ElectriChoice app was built using HTML/CSS/JS. HTML provided the foundation, CSS was utilized to enhance the styles, and JavaScript was used for the functionality of the web-app.
Challenges we ran into
Given the limited timeframe for development, deciding which features to prioritize became a challenge. We had to carefully select the most essential functionalities to align with our project goals while ensuring a user-friendly experience. Narrowing down the specific problem we aimed to address was crucial in making these decisions throughout the development process. Furthermore, integrating the app to function seamlessly across different devices posed a significant hurdle - requiring extensive testing to ensure a consistent user experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Comprehensive Electric Car Database: The app integrates a vast database of electric car models from various manufacturers, including detailed information such as range, top speed, acceleration, and efficiency. Users can browse through the database and access in-depth specifications and images of each model
- EcoEfficiency Analyzer: Our all-in-one solution for assessing potential savings in both finances and environmental impact. By inputting details such as your mileage and budget constraints, the EcoEfficiency Analyzer calculates potential cost savings and quantifies the reduction in your carbon footprint. It empowers you to make informed decisions, and measures the benefit of your transition.
What we learned
Aside from refining our technical skills, one of the major takeaways for us was the need for effective collaboration. As a team composed of individuals who didn't know each other, we had to navigate the process of working together effectively. Through this experience, we realized that collaboration was essential to the success of our project. The process of learning to work with each other taught us the power of teamwork and allowed us to ultimately develop an impactful product.

- ML Model: By leveraging our extensive database of electric car models, a clustering model will intelligently analyzes user preference, budget constraints, and sustainability goals - to identify the most suitable electric car options. This powerful tool can help users instantly discover an electric car that precisely matches their needs.
- Mobile App: In the future, we plan to expand our website to build an app. This will host the ML model.
- User Profiles: By creating a personalized profile, users will be able to input their specific preferences, budget constraints, and sustainability goals. ElectriChoice will generate a personalized selection of electric car options for the user.
