Inspiration

The idea for EmbarkLocal was inspired by our own travel experiences, where we felt like we were missing out on the local culture. We wanted to create a platform that would allow travelers to connect with locals in a more authentic and meaningful way.

What it does

EmbarkLocal is a platform that connects travelers with local hosts based on shared interests. Whether you're a foodie looking to try a new cuisine or a thrill-seeker looking to try a new sport, EmbarkLocal has something for everyone.

How we built it

To build our project, we utilized React for the front end and Node.js for the back end, with Firebase as our database. We also used HTML and CSS to create a visually appealing and user-friendly website.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced was using React and Node.js for the first time. Despite this, we quickly learned and effectively incorporated these technologies into our project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the final product and believe that EmbarkLocal has the potential to change the way people travel and connect with locals. We are also proud of how much we accomplished in the short period of time given to us.

What we learned

Throughout building this project, we learned the importance of user experience and the impact that connecting with locals can have on travel. We also gained valuable experience in full-stack web development and project management.

What's next for EmbarkLocal

In the future, we hope to expand EmbarkLocal to include more locations and allow for even more meaningful connections between travelers and locals.
