Inspiration
Thousands of people around the world and especially in the city of Toronto experience safety concerns on a daily basis. In the last 2 years, there have been over 20,000 cases of assault.
What it does
EmpowerSafe aims to increase peace and well-being in the city of Toronto through providing safety indicators and resources to individuals that are travelling around the city.
How we built it
We used a variety of languages including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Python to implement a website that uses machine learning as well as generative AI to provide safety resources to individuals.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing the Gemini API was a challenge that we eventually overcame through using Vertex which is a similar generative AI tool provided by Google.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of our safety score predictor which considers an indivual's circumstances and provides a score to rank how safe they are in their current situation
