Option for random team building after choosing a role

For online Hackathons it would be nice to simulate the real live interactions at Hackathons, where we make a lot of random encounters by adding a random generator option for team building.

Ideas to improve Hackathons on Devpost

  1. Implement the option for a random matching system: What I love about in-person Hackathons is that I constantly stumble upon new people with different skills and interests over the course of a Hackathon. Online, these chance encounters are limited and it would be cool to have a random generator to find potential Hackathon teammates. Everyone who signs up for a Hackathon could choose a preferred role in advance for example: programmer, project manager, designer etc. and based on ones role would be randomly connected with other participants that choose a different role to build a balanced team.
  2. additionally it would be cool to have a pinboard somewhere on Devpost, where users could post about projects they want to create outside of Hackathons and so find potential partners for these projects.
  3. Implement a (group) chat function on Devpost: connecting with potential teammates via Email is quite annoying
  4. show last activity status to filter out inactive users
  5. add account verification option
  6. add option to add instagram handle in profile info
  7. add option to delete a draft submission
