Inspiration

Our inspiration stemmed from personal experiences navigating the daunting college/scholarship application process. We recognized the need for a tool that could alleviate the burden of writing many different essays and streamline the application journey for all students, regardless of background or resources.

What it does

Essay Echo is an AI-driven web application that provides users with similarity scores for their college application essay prompts. By leveraging advanced AI technology, our platform helps users identify common themes across their submissions, allowing them to tailor their essays more effectively to various prompts and themes. If they know what prompts have the most similarities, it can streamline their writing process and give them essay ideas that are applicable to the most applications.

How we built it

We built Essay Echo using a combination of GBT-4 and using Javascript and CSS in the frontend. Our team worked collaboratively to create a model that allows users to enter their essay prompts. We then trained our AI model to analyze and compare essay prompts for similarities, integrating it into a user-friendly web interface.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we faced was optimizing the performance of our AI model to provide accurate and efficient similarity scores, especially with large volumes of text data. Additionally, ensuring that the backend was smooth required a lot of work

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have developed a functional and user-friendly web application that addresses a crucial need in the college admissions process. Our team successfully implemented cutting-edge AI technology to provide valuable insights to users, empowering them to craft compelling essays and improve their chances of admission to their desired institutions.

What we learned

Through this project, we gained invaluable experience in web development and project management. We learned how to overcome technical challenges, collaborate effectively as a team, and prioritize user experience.

What's next for Essay Echo

In the future, we aim to further enhance the capabilities of Essay Echo by incorporating additional features such as personalized feedback and essay improvement suggestions. We also plan to let students submit their pre-written essays and compare side by side using an API what scholarships/colleges they could apply to using what they already have. This way they don't have to keep writing new essays
