Inspiration
Leaning online is hard for people to focus and takedown detailed notes, and when it comes to assessments, it isn't so easy to review with the "crappy" notes. So why not having some expert notes beside you when you can't connect with the professor! That's why we came up with the idea of Know Share after several failures.
What it does
This web application creates a friendly environment for students of all ages, but more specifically, those seniors in high school and universities with their heavier work and content load. The web offers the stronger students at specific subjects a chance to help those that are weaker by providing their decent notes containing their excellent understanding of the subject. For those weaker ones, Know Share establishes a platform to improve their understanding and reaching a higher goal.
How we built it
We built it using React, a javascript library that allows you to build websites in a concise and easy way. We are also using Axios, another javascript library to handle HTTP requests, which are used to submit new notes and to gather notes. We are using Django, and Django rests framework, which are python frameworks that allow us to handle HTTP requests. It acts as the client in our application and is in our backend.
Challenges we ran into
Starting off with coming up with ideas, many of our ideas are created by other hackers ahead of time. We once had a decent one with API but turns out the program already offers a similar function.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a group with members over the world, meeting for the first time to create such a project in a limited time, we all agree that would be the greatest accomplishments for all of us.
What we learned
We improved our understanding of the web languages along with the react library and our Problem-solving and developing skills also expanded.
What's next for Know Share
We plan on creating functions for online tutoring finding if people's notes interests you and you have further questions. We plan on offering volunteer hours and other prices for the tutors. Moreover, we plan to have an online study group formation where you can find and study with people learning similar content. This feature is most likely implemented with connections with discord.
