Inspiration
Inspired by one of our team member's inability to keep track of her crazy schedule. Event Calendar makes it easy to keep track of upcoming events so we will never forget when we have an event.
What it does
The Event Calendar website allows users to create events by entering the name, description, and date of the event. Users can save the event and delete any events from the list. If the user needs event suggestions, they can find events in their area.
How we built it
Built using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Bootstrap CSS elements were used to create the website. Google CSS Fonts were also used for the top of the website.
Challenges we ran into
As this was our first hackathon, our limited knowledge in web development made this project a bit of a challenge for us, but we were able to learn a lot through this journey. Another challenge was that there was limited time for us to implement all of the features we wanted our website to have. Unfortunately, we were unable to figure out how to implement local storage so users can see the events that were previously created after they refresh the page. However, we hope to successfully implement these features in the near future.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a website using newly learned skills. We learned about various coding languages.
What we learned
We learned how HTML and CSS work to display the elements of a website. We also learned how challenging it is to create a website with a time constraint.
What's next for Event Calendar
We hope to make Event Calendar more personal, interactive and social. One features we want to implement is user profiles, in which users could include their interests, preferred event type, and food restrictions. Users would be able to view others’ profiles and friend each other. Additionally, users could create public events available to everyone on Event Calendar or private events that are just visible to friends. The website would also be able to compare schedules between users to arrange events. We hope to implement an invite feature as well and display event attendees.
