Inspiration

As a solidity engineer, Evmos is my favorite chain. We want more communities from Cosmos to learn about Evmos and thought the best way to do this is bring all the Comos tokens into Evmos ecosystem and circulate to add more values to Evmos community. To keep this philosophy, we had to keep the bridge super easy to use.

How we built it

We wanted to build a project that actually impacts the Evmos ecosystem. Since Evmos is part of Cosmos, we thought to ourselves the best way to leverage the community is to bring the Cosmos token into the Metamask. There are couple reasons.

  1. There are more solidity engineers.
  2. The bridged tokens not only add values to the Evmos community but also to the whole Cosmos communities.
  3. To keep the bridge transparent, we added a bridge explorer where anyone can search liquidity movements from one chain to another.
  4. Process 👉🏼 Evridge automatically connects Keplr wallet and fetches user’s coin amount. User then inputs his Evmos wallet address and then submit. Keplr will transfer the specified amount into the bridge wallet and lets the oracle know the transaction is minted. The oracle system confirms the transaction then sends the pre-minted ERC-20 OSMO token into the user’s Metamask. Once both transactions are confirmed, Metamask asks the user to import OSMO token. 🪐 ➡️ 🦊
  5. Vice versa, the token from Metamask can be transferred to Keplr. 🦊 ➡️ 🪐

Challenges we ran into

  • Making it simple and easy to bridge.
  • Metamask and Keplr wallets to conveniently exchange tokens.

We added the search fields where users can quickly filter addresses (Metamask, Keplr), amounts and dates. When user presses Metamask button, it opens a new tab on a browser and displays transaction details from EVMOS Explorer. When cosmos button is pressed, it displays a transaction detail from Mintscan. The addresses are also clickable and they open account details from both Evmos Explorer and MintScan.

What we learned

  • The usability of the bridge.
  • Moving the liquidity from Cosmos based tokens to Evmos.
  • Building tokens to be more compatible with services built on Evmos.

What’s next for Evridge

  • We plan to add more Cosmos tokens to penetrate into Evmos.
  • We further down the road will build EvSwap Dex to peg the prices of Cosmos tokens that are bridged over to Evmos.
