Project Story: Exposio

Inspiration
Exposio was inspired by the realization that most people — especially influencers and professionals — have little awareness of what the internet publicly reveals about them. A birthday post, a tagged family member, or a location check-in can all be exploited by malicious actors through social engineering. The project was born out of a desire to make invisible risks visible and to empower users to take control of their digital footprint.

What It Does
Exposio is an AI-powered privacy platform that:

  • Scans publicly available data across social media, forums, blogs, and breach indexes.
  • Generates a personalized Exposure Score to quantify risk.
  • Maps relationships and metadata traces to show how attackers could exploit them.
  • Provides actionable privacy advice through ExpoBot, a conversational assistant.
  • Offers breach alerts, deletion requests, and enterprise dashboards for HR and compliance teams.
    How We Built It
  • Integrated OSINT techniques with AI models to analyze public data.
  • Designed an Exposure Score algorithm to measure vulnerability.
  • Built ExpoBot to explain risks in plain language and guide users toward safer practices.
  • Ensured GDPR/FADP compliance by making scans transient and non-invasive.
  • Developed dashboards tailored for individuals, enterprises, and influencers.

Challenges We Ran Into

  • Balancing transparency with privacy, showing exposure without storing sensitive data.
  • Linking fragmented data across platforms reliably.
  • Translating technical risks into everyday language for non-experts.
  • Scaling the platform to serve diverse audiences (individuals, enterprises, educators, influencers).

Accomplishments That We’re Proud Of

  • Creating a user-friendly interface that makes complex OSINT accessible.
  • Developing a unique Exposure Score that quantifies digital risk.
  • Building ExpoBot, which transforms technical findings into actionable guidance.
  • Designing a dedicated influencer dashboard to protect high-visibility users.

What We Learned

  • Privacy is not just technical, it’s emotional and behavioral.
  • Users need education and empowerment, not just alerts.
  • AI can bridge the gap between raw data and human understanding.
  • Compliance and trust are as important as innovation.

What’s Next for Exposio

  • Launching beta testing with early adopters and influencers.
  • Expanding enterprise dashboards for HR and compliance teams.
  • Partnering with universities for educational licensing in cybersecurity programs.
  • Developing advanced alert systems for real-time breach detection.
  • Scaling globally to become the standard for digital exposure awareness.
