Inspiration
My aunt's work on supply chain projects and EUDR compliance + a podcast about how US battery makers can't trace lead from Nigerian factories with poor environmental and worker safety conditions. We need transparent, verifiable supply chains.
What it does
FarmTrace creates blockchain-based compliance records for agricultural commodities. Farmers register plots with geolocation data, AI analyzes satellite imagery for deforestation, and the system generates EUDR-compliant Due Diligence Statements.
How we built it
Solana smart contracts (Rust/Anchor), React frontend, Express.js backend for satellite imagery analysis, and SHA-256 hashing for geographic data integrity.
Challenges we ran into
Syncing compatible library versions across the stack and resolving git merge conflicts with multiple contributors took much more time than anticipated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a functional AI-powered satellite verification system that automatically validates hand drawn farm plots for deforestation risk.
What we learned
Integrating Solana blockchain with real-world data sources and designing compliance systems for international regulations.
What's next for FarmTrace
Direct satellite API integration for real-time deforestation monitoring and creating a mobile app for farmers in remote areas.
