Inspiration
Every college student knows the feeling of hunger well. Knowing that some people will go hungry while good food is being thrown away is unacceptable, and we wanted to change that.
What it does
Redistributes otherwise wasted food to people who want and need it.
How we built it
Using node.js, we integrated it with a SQL database and built our front end in HTML5.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was our group's overall lack of hackathon experience and coding maturity. We overcame that by learning the skills that we needed to make our product.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Each of us learned a lot from this experience. Raf learned all about HTML and css, Nimesh learned about SQL databases and how to implement them, and I learned node.js. There was a period of time between 9pm and 4am where we all had complete focus on learning what we needed for our respective roles, and that's something that we're proud of.
What we learned
The most important thing we learned was how to collaborate together as a team, as this was the first hackathon for 2/3 of our members.
What's next for FeedMe
We want to brush up and polish this app and potentially have a trial run in Bethlehem in the future.
