Inspiration

In 2020-2021, over 40% of Australians aged 16-85 years had experienced a mental disorder at some point in their life. In a time where a third of Australians feel lonely, we wanted to create an accessible, safe space for users to recharge mentally.

Drawing inspiration from various animal-assisted therapy programs, we envisioned a virtual space where users can pet a cat, relax and improve their mental wellbeing.

What it does

In FelineWell, a virtual pet cat will cheer up or calm down users in times of mental distress. Petting or feeding the cat, and completing todo list items will increase its happiness level. As time passes, the happiness level decreases.

Whilst going about their day, the user and their cat can watch a relaxing bird video in the background.

How we built it

Html, css, javascript, hosted on github pages.

Challenges we ran into

Not knowing how to centre a div. Getting Instagram likes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It works.

What we learned

How to build a basic web app.

What's next for FelineWell

Earn money from completing tasks to spend on new kinds of cat food. Add new cats that the user can choose from, adding cat sound effects.
