Femindex

Purpose

After experiencing firsthand the difficulties of finding inspiration and resources as girls and women interested in tech, our team decided to build a website containing a collection of useful pages for combatting this problem. Femindex's desktop-esque format makes it easy to navigate to the pages you want to explore, and see the various functions at a glance. Its mellow colour palette is guaranteed to send bouts of serotonin through you and seep positive vibes into your day. With its simple, soft design, Femindex acts as a welcoming space for anyone seeking for inspiration, trying to find resources, wanting to form a community, and needing motivation.

Challenges we ran into

We had not so much knowledge on how to build apps and were new to the technical stack. Many of our team members were first-time hackers, so we had difficulties coming up with initial ideas and the planning process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to come up with a final project that is meaningful to all of us. Each one of our team members contributed towards thinking of page ideas, and we drew inspiration from what we wanted to see more of as girls/women in tech. Despite not being very knowledgeable about coding and hackathons in general, we worked together and were able to build something that we are proud of.

What we learned

We learned the importance of working together and perseverance. Throughout the process of building Femindex, we faced many difficulties and moments of mutual frustration. However, by staying true to our goal, we found solutions along the way.

What's next for Femindex

Once we get users, we will leverage our position in the market to create more apps to empower women. We hope to expand our platform into a community where we can support one another and share experiences.
