Finance Cats is a fun and friendly financial advisor app featuring feline finance experts ready to help you budget, invest, and manage debt, with a purr-sonal touch. Built for GDSC Hacks 2025 by Hussain Al-Shammari, Vivek Manoj, and Sarah Mathew.
Inspiration
Financial literacy is often intimidating and boring, especially for students and young professionals. We noticed that many of our friends avoided financial planning altogether because traditional apps felt clinical and overwhelming. What if learning about personal finance could be as enjoyable as playing with a pet? This question sparked the idea for Finance Cats, combining adorable feline personalities with practical financial guidance to make money management approachable and fun.
What it does
Finance Cats transforms the often stressful experience of personal finance into an engaging, guided journey led by charming cat advisors. Users can upload their bank statements as CSV files to receive personalized spending insights, tailored credit card recommendations based on their habits, and beginner-friendly investment suggestions. Each cat advisor specializes in different financial areas: Dr. Bartholomeow handles investments and credit cards, Sir Pounce optimizes budgets, and Dr. Clawdia specializes in debt management and long-term planning, all delivering advice with unique personalities and optional voice synthesis.
