Inspiration
Millions of young adults lack the financial education and resources to survive in the U.S., with historically underrepresented groups more likely to lack these resources. With the average American in debt, and 1 in 5 millennials not knowing how to file taxes, it's evident that education has to change.
What it does
FinancialGo is a mobile educational app teaching finance literacy including topics such as taxes, budgeting, retirement savings, and more. I designed FinancialGo in order to incorporate basic financial education with the busy young adult. Instead of stocks and bonds like many apps on the market, I chose to focus on teaching essential information that many people take for granted. This app has many financial courses which can be easily filtered, progress trackers, and achievements to keep you motivated. This was my first time using Figma, and I created 7 mockups on it, keeping in mind accessibility with a small color palette, font, and features all chosen so everyone can use it.
How we built it
I built this using Figma and research.
Challenges we ran into
Learning Figma was a challenge and trying to incorporate as much accessible UI as possible.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of creating a financial app design in Figma centered around accessibility and the needs of young adults and historically underrepresented individuals.
What we learned
I learned a lot about design principles and how to use Figma.
What's next for FinancialGo
The next step for FinancialGo is taking these mockups and turning it into a working app!
