Inspiration

Juana uses Fusion Digital Banking to send money to her loved ones. She also pays her bills, invests money, and does so much more. But one thing she cannot do is find and donate money to legitimate local charities. She wants to make an impact with local community organizations, but how can she do it inside the Fusion Digital banking app?

What it does

Introducing FinGiving!!! A service that is integrated in the Malauzai Fusion Digital banking app. FinGiving allows Juanna to select from a variety of verified local charities. She can now make a one-time immediate donation, schedule future and reoccurring payments, and view reports of her donation history. The best part Is that she can see testimonials of how her contributions have positively impacted her community.

FinGiving can be integrated easily inside the Malauzai Digital Banking app. Simply onboard vetted local charities, complete account setup, and the organization can immediately start accepting donations.

How to make a donation? Easy! Log into your digital banking app, click Make a Donation, and select from a variety of available non-profit organizations. Complete the required information and hit send to submit a donation. You will need to authorize the donation to complete donation real time. You may also schedule donations, view previous contributions, and learn more about the charity. Enabling partnerships with local charities in the community.

How we built it

It is a web app built with React for the front-end, Ruby for the backend and uses PostgreSQL database.

For authentication and authorization of transaction we used what's built within Malauzai Fusion Digital banking app.

For the vetting process & onboarding of local charities, we used a web app built in Ruby on Rails for both the front-end & backend and uses PostgreSQL database.

Challenges we ran into

We did not have Product Owner (PO) initially which hinders us to understand better Juana's pain points but a day before we put together the prototype we got a PO who helped us solidify our solution to Juana's pain points and many more Juanas out there who are socially responsible and wanted to make an impact within their community.

What's next for FinGiving

Partner with third party vendors who have already vetted non-profit organizations within each local community
Create open APIs that will be published in FFDC (https://store.fusionfabric.cloud) for other banks to easily extend it as a donation service.
