Inspiration

As there is an increasing and exponential trend in charity scam ads and given increased reliance on the internet for donations, we thought of a way to bridge donors to credible charities in a more convenient manner and to change the nature of humanitarian aid.

What it does

Accessible website that filters through the ACNC database to more easily connect donors to reputable and legitimate charities

How we built it

It was built through python and javascript to make a website. We had developed made our solution through pandas, streamlit and react to improve usability and more.

Challenges we ran into

We encountered several challenges not only in the code but also with idea formulation and beginning. With this particular sector, it was difficult to narrow the ideas down. As beginners who have limited experience in code, we were unsure about how begin the project from scratch. However, with enough encouragement from those around us, and mentorship, we were able to discover methods and frameworks to begin our project

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re quite proud of our progress as a team, from beginners who didn’t where to start to a group that has created a product. We’re also grateful for all the skills and teamwork that was involved in this project.

What we learned

As a many of us were unfamiliar with programming with javascript and react. We had learned how to use streamlit which is a python library for developing websites and learned react to make our website more interactive.

What's next for Flach

Due to the lack of time, we couldn't build the backend. In the future, we want to develop backend and database using mongoDB and Node.js and the front end for the database, also a search algorithm to filter the database so that it provides users with more accurate and suitable charities.
