Inspiration
To enhance athlete performance by keeping their core body temperature balance, and their joint warm
What it does
Specialized heating activewear that targets specific body areas (joints, key muscles, etc.) with therapeutic heat. Heat is monitored and controlled by the user for muscle and joint comfort during “down-time,” while also reducing the need to “warm back up” after extended periods of rest.
How we built it
Brainstormed the idea of keeping the joints warm; Figured out the different base fabrics, heating sources, and designs; Sourced the needed materials for both prototype and final products; Selected and purchased the materials for the prototype based on the availability in project timeline; Fabricated the first prototype as a proof of concept, by using the electrical heating pad, and arm sleeve available in market; Fabricated the second prototype to make the product aesthetic and consumer friendly ( for the second prototype, we used the Hot Hands body warmer with adhesive as the heating source; Measured the body temperature changes for the quality control and reliability; Tested the product with the athletes to get the consumer feedbacks. In the meanwhile, the business group developed the business plans, designs, logo, websites.
Challenges we ran into
Materials sourcing for the final products
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Solved a real problem in athletic world to improve their performance and reduce the time for their warm-up and preparation
What we learned
How to find the problem and tackle it by taking a quick and feasible approach
What's next for FlexBest
To fabricate the final products and grow the business by introducing products for other body parts and joints
